1. Old-World Charm
Many brides are incorporating small touches that reflect old-fashioned elegance. Think punch served from a vintage style crystal bowl or candy displayed in antique vessels.
2. Rich Wrappings
Beads, Brooches, jewels, pearls and charms are dressing up simple ribbon wrapped stems of bouquets.
3. Feathers
This light and whimsical accent is continuing to show up on invitations, centerpieces, chair covers and more.
4. Wedding Logos
Moving beyond monograms, couples are having decorative logos created to "brand" their weddings. These designs are based on their initials but also often incorporate hobbies or interests. Personalized logos are appearing on save-the-dates, invitations, napkins, table decor and more.
5. Contemporary Cake Toppers
Bejeweled initials, decorative objects and detailed figurines are adding creativity to cakes. Some toppers are even specially designed to replicate the couple, with made to match hair and skin color.
6. Fanciful Flower Girls
Fairy wings, glittery wands, dangling pomanders and delicate tiaras or wreaths are putting a special spotlight on these young attendants.
7. Pre-ceremony Partying
Upon arriving at weddings, guests are being ushered not straight to their ceremony seats, but to a bar or cocktail table first. The result: a crowd that's loose and laid back for both the ceremony and the reception.
8. Glamorous Send-offs
Fashionable exits are returning to receptions. Couples are reviving the charming tradition of changing into honeymoon attire before departing, and they're taking off in style, with musicians playing a farewell song or amid rows of guests holding sparklers.
9. Nostalgic Niceties
Brides and grooms are connecting with their guests by sharing something from their childhoods. Some examples are a favorite snack, such as caramel popcorn or marshmallow twists, or potted flowers from the area where the bride grew up. A short note is usually attached to explain the significance.
10. Metallic Touches
Silver, gold and bronze details are adding luster to ceremonies and receptions; favorites include sparkly ribbon wrapped around floral bouquets, and shimmery overlays draped delicately on reception tables.
