The Wedding Flowers
by Jackie Theobald of Jackie "k"

Flowers speak volumes at a wedding.  Bright, vibrant bursts of color, or elegant, muted tones will set the stage and create ambiance for your guests.  Whether your wedding is grandiose and over-the-top, or small and intimate, flowers are the perfect accessory to pull it all together.

FLORAL TRENDS

Color, color, color!
Brides are choosing monochromatic color schemes to make a bold statement.  Citrus green, tiffany blue, brilliant orange, icy pink, chocolate brown, and classic black are the rave right now.

Bouquets and arrangements are more concise.  Rather than the ordinary “mix” of several types of flowers, it is now common to see a look that is more pulled together, using only two or three types of flowers.

Accessories and adornments are also high on the list.  Rhinestones, pearl accents, feathers, and beading only name a few.  Grandma’s antique broche or a charm from an old necklace can be attached to a bouquet and give it that special touch.

Information to bring when consulting with your florist

1. your Wedding date

2. Location of the ceremony and reception

3. Color swatches from bridesmaid gowns

4. Clippings out of magazines or books

5. A rough estimate of how many bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, etc. will be needed
